2020 has been a tough time for all of us, with the on-going pandemic situation. Whilst we have been supplying and installing storage solutions for every kind of business, from racking systems, shop equipment and pallet racking to cantilever racking and anti-collapse meshes, it has not stopped us giving back to those who need it. Below is the article in its entirety as published on the Leaders Council website. So often it is said that Christmas is a time of giving and sharing with those around us, but that spirit of sharing should not be limited to those that we love and care for, nor merely be restricted to the latter weeks of the year. Since 1999, Southampton-based business SNC Installations has been supplying and installing storage solutions for every kind of business, from racking systems, shop equipment and pallet racking to cantilever racking and anti-collapse meshes. Throughout an atypical year, the company has been playing its part to keep the Christmas spirit of giving alive and well all year round, working with a handful of children’s charities such as Naomi House & Jacksplace Hospices to help them continue their work with ill and vulnerable youngsters. Another of the charities the business has worked with over 2020 is the Over The Wall organisation, which provides residential summer camps for children and their families coping with severe illnesses and conditions. As an expression of thanks for a donation of racking and installation valued at £567.60 to help safely and cleanly store toys, games, activities and medical equipment, the charity’s head of corporate partnerships Jo Cole wrote a heartfelt letter to SNC Installations for their generosity throughout the year, which has helped continue the delivery of therapeutic recreation to vulnerable children who have found themselves more isolated than ever before in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Addressing the letter to SNC Installations’ contracts manager, Nic Conduct, Cole wrote: From all of us here at Over The Wall I am writing to thank you and SNC Installations Ltd for the donation of racking and installation valued at £567.60. As I’m sure you know, this is on huge value to the Over The Wall Charity. The racking will ensure all the toys, games, activities and medical equipment for the children the charity supports is kept safe and clean for their use and entertainment. This donation helps the Over The Wall team to provide ongoing delivery of therapeutic recreation to seriously ill children and their families through Camp in the Cloud (our online virtual camp) during the Covid-19 pandemic. These children and families experience isolation and hardship in their daily lives and now, more than ever, your support is so important to them. Thank you from everyone here at Over The Wall and the families we work with." At this time and at any time of the year, any donation, no matter how big or small, can make a huge difference on good days, difficult days and last days. As well as feeling extremely proud to be invited, I thought it important to share our perspective with other businesses and the wider community. There are so many issues facing us right now above and beyond the usual pressures we face every day. Given so much political uncertainty, I knew it would be invaluable to hear what other owners are dealing with and to share and take away best practice ideas. Although this is a parliamentary review, it is completely independent of any party-political bias. With that in mind I believe the thoughts expressed by me and the other businesses involved can be taken by others at face value. If anything shared by SNC can help influence the decisions made by government to support UK businesses that would be great. At least I feel I have had my say in a hopefully productive way and that means a lot to me. When Nic and I arrived in London on 4th September it was clear our visit to Westminster was on a very momentous day. We had been following the news and knew Tory rebels and opposition MPs were attempting to pass the law to prevent a no-deal Brexit that evening. When you entered the building, the buzz was incredible with lots of people rushing about albeit in a dignified way. Needless to say, the press were everywhere! It was fascinating to listen to Andrew Neil (journalist & presenter of The Andrew Neil Show on BBC2) at our reception and an added bonus to meet Denise Lewis. Even though we’re unlikely to see a massive increase in work until the Brexit-related uncertainty is over, I am confident we will get through this episode virtually unscathed. We’ve been operating for two decades and have seen all manner of events, so I’m not at all afraid. It simply means we’ll have to be a little more adaptable to ensure we get things right and continue to nurture the strong relationships we have with our clients. Our proactive approach and solid foundation of excellence and quality is why I look to the future with total optimism.
